MCS have put in place effective environmental management procedures that can bring benefits to both the environment and the business itself. It is important to us that we are aware of the effects on the environment as a consequence of the tasks we undertake. It is important that we look at ways of preventing and minimising our impacts on the environment due to our work activities.
Below are some of the things we pay close attention to:
- Reducing the amount of raw materials and resources used
- Reducing the amount of waste that is generated
- Reducing energy and waste disposal costs
- Minimising the business breaching environmental legislation
With the help of our Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner, we carry out assessments in order to identify significant environmental aspects associated with the works we carry out.
Controlling Waste and Environmental Impacts
MCS have a focus to eliminate, minimise and render harmless any possible air and water pollution. We are trained to follow these hierarchy of steps on all jobs.
When it comes to waste, on-site or in our office we are aware of the importance of it being properly managed and segregated when required. Before we dispose of anything we consider it’s final destination and strive to recycle and re-use where possible.
Work Travel Has an Impact on the Environment
MCS always look to minimise any harm to the environment by taking a close look at workplace travel activities. Some of the considerations we take are listed below.
- Team members share journeys with colleagues
- We plan journeys to find the quickest routes thus minimising fuel consumption
- When driving, we drive economically and avoid excessive speeds
- We maintain our vehicles so they run to their most efficient
- Digital meetings where possible
